Ryetec Tackling Overgrown Hedgerows Strikes a Cord

Ryetec launched their new Heavy Duty Fingerbar cutting head at the recent LAMMA show, and it seems that cutting hedges after two or three years growth on new Single Farm Payment Schemes is very much on most farmers' and contractors minds.

With so much growth on hedges after two or three years which have previously been flailed annually, most people are aware that flails will not only struggle when the time comes to cut these hedges but they will be slow. The flail will not only damage the hedge but there's a good chance the hedge will damage the flail.

Ryetec Tackling Overgrown Hedgerows Strikes a Cord Ryetec's new Heavy Duty Fingerbar head cuts material up to 50mm (2") in diameter. It's precision machined blades powered by a large reciprocating hydraulic ram will shear even 50mm hard wood cleanly leaving a tidy finish and because the blade is designed to cut hedges and not just shear large diameter branches, it cuts even the smallest branches for a complete finish. This combined with a cutting width of 1.8 metres most hedges can be sided in one pass.

The Heavy Duty Fingerbar can be driven by a relatively small side arm, in fact Ryetec also supply a smaller 1.5 metre wide head to suit smaller compact side arms ideal for use by local authorities. Unlike saw blades and flail heads, the Heavy Duty Fingerbar does not throw any cuttings they simply fall from their own weight which makes operation especially in urban areas far safer.
