Agricultural Design Engineer
Location: Ryetec, North Yorkshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are You a Problem Solver with a Passion for Innovation?
Do you want to design innovative agricultural machinery and see your ideas brought to life?
At Ryetec, we’re expanding our in-house manufacturing capabilities and developing next-
generation products — and we’re looking for a creative, hands-on Agricultural Design
Engineer to join our growing team.
This is a practical, varied role where you’ll be designing, prototyping, testing, and problem-
solving every day. If you thrive on challenges and want to make a real impact in a supportive,
forward-thinking environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About Ryetec
Based near Malton in North Yorkshire, Ryetec has been supplying specialist machinery to the
agricultural, forestry, and amenities sectors since 1992.
With over 30 years of hands-on experience operating, modifying, designing, and
manufacturing farm machinery, we understand the real-world challenges our customers face.
Our philosophy of “quality over quantity” ensures our machines deliver reliable performance
year after year, earning us a loyal customer base who often return for their second or third
“Ryetec” machine.
In recent years, we’ve invested heavily in in-house design and manufacturing, creating
innovative, high-quality products designed to serve the industry for decades to come. We
focus on delivering value, not just competing on price — solving problems and providing
long-lasting solutions.
The Role
We’re looking for an Agricultural Design Engineer who loves to innovate, problem-solve,
and get hands-on. One day you could be working on a CAD model, the next you might be
helping to build and test a prototype on the shop floor or working with a machine in the field.
You’ll play a key role in designing cutting-edge equipment that supports farmers, contractors,
and forestry operators across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative agricultural machinery and systems using CAD and
other engineering tools.
- Create detailed engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, and customers to solve technical challenges.
- Prototype, test, and refine designs for maximum performance and reliability.
- Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
- Produce technical documentation, including weld drawings, specifications, manuals,
and parts diagrams.
- Support manufacturing processes, troubleshoot issues, and maintain quality control.
- Work closely with the lead designer to bring concept machines to manufacturable
products.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in agricultural machinery design or a related engineering field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
- A practical understanding of agricultural operations and machinery.
- A problem solver’s mindset with a passion for finding smart, effective solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A willingness to innovate, learn, and get hands-on with your designs.
Why Join Ryetec
- Be part of a growing company shaping the future of agricultural machinery.
- Work on innovative, real-world projects where your ideas make a direct impact.
- Hands-on involvement in prototype development and testing.
- A supportive, collaborative environment where every idea counts.
- Professional development opportunities.
- Flexible working arrangements where possible.
- Competitive salary based on experience.
How to Apply
If you’re ready to help us design the next generation of agricultural machinery, we’d love to hear from you.
