BUILDING MY NEW RYETEC COMPACT WORKBOX

BUILDING MY NEW RYETEC COMPACT WORKBOX

The visit takes viewers behind the scenes at Ryetec Industrial Equipment’s workshop in North Yorkshire, where George’s new Ryetec Compact Workbox was being assembled.

George first came across Ryetec a few years earlier when testing a JCB 4220 Icon tractor fitted with one of their front-mounted workboxes. Impressed by its build quality and finish, he decided his next box had to come from the same team.

At the factory, George explores every stage of the build. He watches the box move from the welding area to the paint booth, pointing out the precision of the welds, the protective lighting housings, and the reinforcing struts that make these boxes both durable and practical. He also takes a close look at the paintwork, describing the process as “satisfying to watch,” and praises the attention to detail in every panel and bracket.

One of the most distinctive features of Ryetec’s workboxes and compact boxes is their clever use of space. Instead of adding weight inside the box, Ryetec designs allow the weights to attach neatly underneath. This keeps the internal storage area free for tools, spares, or even optional fittings such as a pressure washer or fuel tank. It’s a simple but smart design that adds functionality without compromising space.

During the tour, George also sees a crop roller taking shape, showing the same level of craftsmanship as the workboxes. From the perfectly aligned discs to the heavy-duty axles, every part reflects Ryetec’s commitment to strength and reliability. The roller can even be fitted to the front linkage or mounted under a compact box, showing how adaptable the system is for different setups.

As the day continues, George and the Ryetec team discuss customisation options. Customers can choose colour finishes, fonts, and even backlit nameplates. George’s own compact box features a subtle illuminated “Saunders Boy Ryetec” panel, designed and built entirely in-house.

He also tries out some of the practical extras built into the box, like tool holders, chain brackets, and quick-access compartments. A version fitted with an onboard pressure washer shows how easily the box can be customised for real-world farm and contractor use.

By the end of his visit, George’s compact workbox is complete and ready to fit on his tractor. Smaller and more versatile than his previous box, it’s designed to stay on permanently, keeping essential tools close at hand. The clean lines, robust build, and bespoke details make it a true reflection of Ryetec’s philosophy: well-engineered, British-built, and made to last.

George signs off by inviting viewers to see the box in person at LAMMA, Stand 20.574, where he’ll be on hand for a meet and greet and a prize giveaway.
