The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund 2024 (FETF) has now launched to help invest in equipment that will improve productivity and efficiency in farming businesses in England the application window is now open until 17th April 2024.
You can apply for a grant if your business is in England and you’re a:
- Farmer
- Horticulturalist
- Forestry owner
- Contractor carrying out services to farmers, horticulturalists or forestry owners.

With the FETF Fund a grant of up to £13,100 is available when purchasing a qualifying timber trailer & crane combination, such as the Ryetec 10 Ton Timber Trailer with 6.7m Crane pictured below:
The grant is broken down as follows:
FETF17 – Timber Crane (up to £7,100 grant available)
- That can reach at least 6m with a lift capacity of 500kg at this reach.
- The crane may be either cab mounted, mountable via three-point linkage to a tractor, or purchased to fit on a timber trailer.
FETF19 – Forestry/Timber Trailer Large (up to £6,000 grant available)
- The trailer must have a timber carrying capacity of at least 9,000kg and be designed for use in forests and woodlands to extract timber.
- The trailer must be fitted with a permanent headboard, have at least 6 permanent bolsters with no floor or sides and use a hitch eye to attached to the towing vehicle.
- The vehicle must be fitted with low ground pressure tyres or floatation tyres or automatic inflation and deflation system for the tyres.
Also available from Ryetec is a Small Timber trailer to meet the below specification:
FETF18 – Forestry/Timber Trailer Small (up to £4,281.50 grant available)
- The trailer must have a timber carrying capacity of at least 2,000kg and be designed for use in forests and woodlands to extract timber.
- The trailer must be fitted with a permanent headboard, have at least 6 permanent bolsters with no floor or sides and use a hitch eye to attached to the towing vehicle.
- The vehicle must be fitted with low ground pressure tyres or floatation tyres or automatic inflation and deflation system for the tyres.

The Greenkeeper consists of a tined rake with an air seeder. Both the seeder and the rake are available to be purchased and invoiced as separate machines. Here’s how we would apply below:
FETF208 – Tractor mounted stubble rake 6m
Expected average cost of item (£): 16,800
Percentage paid towards item: 50%
Grant amount (based on a quantity of 1) (£): 8,400
Score: 61
Items Must:
» be a tractor mounted stubble rake
» have a minimum 6m working width
» have tines to agitate the soil surface and spread crop residues evenly across the field
» break up damp mats of straw.
FETF207 – Air drill for establishing cover crops qualify.
Expected average cost of item (£): 3,150
Percentage paid towards item: 60%
Grant amount (based on a quantity of 1) (£): 1,890
Score: 64
Items Must:
» be a pneumatic (air) drill
» be designed to be mounted on existing drills or soil tillage equipment
» have electronic metering
» be able to drill small cover crop seeds
» use either pipes, coulters or spreader plates to place the seed
» have a minimum 3m drilling width
» have a seed hopper with a minimum 300L capacity

Various amounts of grant are available through the FETF Fund for direct drills depending on drill width & specification from 3m to 6m starting at £15,067.50 up to £27,900.
- To be eligible the drill must have a minimum drilling width of 2.9m, 3.9m or 5.9m must have no cultivation or seed bed preparation equipment in front of the seeding slot mechanism and the seed must be placed in the seeding slot.
- The drill must be able to drill through a fully established growing cover crop of at least 15cm in height.
- Purchase must include seed hoppers. The drill must be able to drill the full range of arable and cover crops including cereals.

With the FETF Fund a grant of up to £2,250 is available when purchasing a qualifying sward lifter meeting the following criteria:
- A minimum of 3 legs with adjustable depth control (at least to 300mm) via the legs or packing rollers.
- Machine must have cutting disc in front of, and a packing roller behind, each leg, shear bolt or mechanical reset on each leg.
